Do You Hear What I Hear? ~5 Days Away

            "What Child Is This?"

5 Days Away

"This, this is Christ the King!"

Jesus is the King! Jesus is worthy of all the fuss and so much more! However, we spend so much time fussing over everything but Christ the King!

This Christmas let us not spend more time baking goodies, wrapping gifts, and decorating trees than we spend worshiping our King.

Let us ask ourselves each day: What Child Is This? and then truly answer the question. Who is Christ to us or in Jesus' words to His disciples: "Who do you say I am?"

Music: What Child Is This?

Meditation: "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned." ~Isaiah 9:2

"The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, 'Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one I meant when I said, 'A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.' I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.'
Then John gave this testimony: 'I saw the spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. And I myself did not know him but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.' I have seen and I testify that this is God's Chosen One.'" ~John 1: 29-34

"Jesus said to her [Martha], 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?'~John 11:25-26

"'Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for  you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.'"  ~John 14:1-3

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews 13:8

What child is this? What a question! Jesus asked his disciples a similar question, and every person needs to contemplate the question. Christmas time is a beautiful time to comes to terms with a solid response:

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, 'who do people say the Son of Man is?'
They replied, 'Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.'
'But what about you?' he asked, 'Who do you say I am?' ~Matthew 16:13-15

Please pause a moment and contemplate your own response...better yet, write down your response. Scripture continues with the following:

"...Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.'" ~Matthew 16:16

Heavenly Father, What a blessing! The birth of Jesus! We rejoice! We want to know this child. We want to know Jesus. Give us the desire and the will to truly know who Jesus is. Let us seek You with our whole being. Help us to be able to answer You with who we know You to be. Help us to lead others to this realization as a witness for You. In Jesus' Name.  Amen.
